A short story from my friend

when i did my course certificate I and II racing (stable hand) i had to stay at a stable from 4am to 5pm (11hrs)
during that time i got up and dressed and dad would drive me to taminnmin high where trudy clarke would drive us to the stables at the back of the racetrack. i went to the stables of s. clarke. he was pretty nice and showed me around and introduced me to all his staff. there was david who owned one of the horses there. he would take 2 or 3 horses swimming in the mornings and show me how to steer them in the water. then there was another lady ( i don't remember hername) who washed the horses and helped muck out. they were full time workers. david would take me out to the track entrance with the stables jockey ( can't remember his name either) he was nice and very curious about how i ride. the only bad thing about watching the horses on the track was that there were heaps of sand flies that lived in the grass and bit me!!! when all the morning jobs were done at about 9am everyone would go home for about 5 hrs until 2pm... i stayed at the stables and spent my time sleeping, reading, talking to the pool cleaner, spending time with the horses and getting attacked by the cat. when it was 2pm the part time workers came and they were about my age. one was chelsea. chelsea rides at wongabilla and i spent most of my afternoon worktime with her doing jobs... horses werent ridden in the afternooons, i mucked out, groomed and washed the horses and swept the floor. the horses names i cacn't really remember but there was sheky, lewy, rishi, and about 6 others. i also learned to put on a jockey pad (saddle) which was slightly hard....
