Check out this video of Rachel riding Cadbury its pretty cool. Today at holiday program I learnt how to jump!!!! And i am getting better at cantering still very rusty though but I will get there (hopefully). We did a pretend show but I have never showed a horse so I most likely looked pretty stupid. LOL

My recent horse visits
On the weekend I made a trip to the Rapid Creek Stables. I saw my favourite horse from there. She is thone with a upside down triangle on her forehead. I like her because she loves to be petted and obviously enjoys people being around her.
Yesterday I nearly got drenched at Joshels during my lesson but luckily we got undercover before it started pouring. We waited for the rain to drizzle out a bit and then we started. I rode Cola, he was being a bit lazy and enjoyed standing in one place (lookin pretty lol) my heels got sore from kicking him so hard after a while. I mainly rode without stirrups because I found it easier to get Cola moving without them.
When we trotted I used my stirrups though.

Joshels is the best
Joshels stud and agistment is the best place.
It is the one and only place I have ridden. I love all the horses there and the people who run it. They have the best facilities and teach lessons all year round.
If you live in Darwin and want to ride I strongly recommend going there. You learn a lot and most importantly have lots of fun.

A story I wrote
Centaur
The first thing I saw when I appeared in La La land was this huge centaur.
The horse’s body gleamed silkily in the sunlight. His legs were strong structured with black stockings running down to his pitch black hooves. The tail of this strange creature was shiny black which shimmered in the sunlight along with his bay colour horse body.
The human part of the centaur was muscular and tanned to a golden brown colour. His muscles rippled along his arms and he carried a razor sharp sword in each hand that looked like one sword with two handles. The light of the sun reflected brightly off the silver swords. The gold handles also shimmered in the light.
I noticed and liked the black mow hawk hair style because it looked mad with the horse body and huge human chest. His golden eyes stared at me unblinking as I studied his face, it had a strong figure and his mouth was in tight line as if he was impatient to get moving then he stamped one of his hooves impatiently and I realized I was standing rock still staring at him. I shook my head to clear and then yelled “Nicolas!!” and he smiled slightly and I knew he wanted me to follow him.

my latest lesson
My latest horse riding lesson went really well. We did some tear drops, trotting and even a little bit of cantering. I have a lot of work to do to get my canter any where near okay. My friend Elana is amazing I am sure if she could she would gallop around. I rode jesse again which was really great. I offered her to kaitlin but she said she would try Toffee again.
I think I am getting better at riding or is that the horse I ride is doing everything perfectly???
Anyway if you have anything that you would like to put on the blog please email me at mairose.mini@hotmail.com or mairose.mini@gmail.com

Docs
Docs is a stallion................. bit intimidating if you don't know him that well.
I used to always think that stallions were vicous and all but most aren't.
LOL I was kinda scared of horses when I was little because they were so big. The big horses though are often really gentle though. I find it hard to believe I was scared now that I reaaly like horses.

horse lesson
Yesterday was my horse riding lesson. We had Katey teach us, we did a lot of trotting and a bit of balance. I sat trotted without stirrups and I also tried to rise trot without stirrups (very hard and painful in my opinion. My friend Elana did some sit trotting but the horse she was riding Neddy was getting a bit excited as they say and was starting to go a bit fast. So Elana had to work on her thumbs on top, heels down, hands low and a few other things. She did really well though. Unfortuanately I don't have a picture.
Toffee was a tiny bit naughty so the person riding her had some trouble but did really well. I rode Jesse and she was a star so I didn't have much problem with her but next week I am going to try and ride a different horse.
Katey said that she won't be there next week so Rachel will do our lessons. Katey said something about being in the round yard next week with the lunge line and no reins for the rider. In other words we are going to do a bit of balance I think and hope. I am looking forward to next week.
please send in anything you want me to put on the blog at mairose.mini@hotmail.com

I fell off again!!!!
Okay so I fell off just after Toffee jumped a jump. Marble was behind me and the rider got her to jump and she landed near Toffee's bum so Toffee kicked and gave a little buck and I fell off.
But the wierd thing is that one of my boots stayed in the stirrup lol.
Flo was there and so was my friend (embarrasing)
I landed on my face and my jeans landed in pooh LOL
That was probably the most funniest fall I've had
well.............................. mabe the one where i fell off Polly-Waffle was.
I was riding in the round yard with Layla bareback and I got distracted and Polly-Waffle walked underneath the fence/bar and I got pushed off....... what a laugh. Then I had to catch him, luckily that didn't take too long.
Oh yeah please tell me what u think of this blog if you already haven't so i can make it better. please comment what I should and should not change as well.

CANTERING
I CANTERED. I can not believe I cantered without falling off.
Bec and Flo were doing the lesson and they let us canter. It was so much fun with all the trotting and stuff.
I reckon the are as good as Rachel at instructing lessons.

CAMPING
We went camping last weekend. It was very fun and Elana and I went on a trail ride which was the best. I rode a horse called Chairman and Elana rode twinkle. The horses are stock horses so they are a little bit thin compared to Joshels horses.
camping was the best and it was my first time and I can't wait to go again.

I FELL OFF FOR THE 4TH TIME
I was unable to take any photos so here is one of last weeks photos of me.
The recent lesson was very fun, I rode Cola. I keep getting him mixed up with Co coa. He gets scared quite easily and one time he got spooked and he jumped a bit, that was scary but luckily and surprisingly I stayed on.
The second time he got spooked I fell off and landed on my butt.
In the recent lesson we did a walk barrel race so that was sort of fun and then we went into the round yard and did some teardrops. Then we went into the green house and did quite a bit of trotting so that was fun.

This is the latest horse riding lesson I have been to and I had lots of fun.
I rode Sherbet for the first time and she was good to ride. My mum really likes Sherbet.
My friend rode Marble but Marble was being silly and did not stop when my friend asked her to.
Josh taught us this time because the lesson before us was late and so Rachel was with them. We did some trotting towards the end of the lesson so that was good.

Thanks for the comment Bec
it is good that Lolly doesn't rear on you anymore but I'm not gonna risk it.
I am going stay away from Lolly for as long as possible.

Bo, Your Incredible!

Non-fiction, by Hayley, age 32
When I was 15 years old, I was passionate about horses, but I didn't own one. I always bought horse magazines that I would read over and over again. I desperately wished for a horse of my own, and one day that wish came true.
I saw an advertisement for a horse for sale. It said "Thoroughbred chestnut stallion. Stands almost 17hh". My mom was very reluctant to see this horse, but eventually I convinced her to take me, "just to look". The stallon was about a two-hour drive away. The directions were easy to follow and in no time we were standing outside the paddock, looking at him.
The woman called Mrs. Curriben was the owner of the stallion, Bo. He was easily 17hh, and very skinny. His ribs poked out; I could cound all of them. He had a rough coat that looked more like a bay than a chestnut. He had a thick whiteblaze and two socks-- one on the front right, and one of the back left leg. His paddock looked like a bomb site -- it had old cars strewn about, and I couldn't even locate a water trough. There wasn't a shred of food, only dust.
I felt so sorry for the poor old... no wait, he was only four years old! He had been a racehorse but wasn't very fast so he never made it far in the racing business. He was very docile, but looked depressed and lonely. I just couldn't leave him there, so I purchased him right then for $200.
The massive stallion almost jumped out of the trailer and wouldn't stop prancing. He nearly knocked my mom over, and he succeeded in knocking me down. He had absolutely no respect for humans! I unloaded him after a long journey home into a small paddock at my neighbor's house. I watched him eat as the sun disappeared.
Early the next morning I went to go see my new horse-- but the paddock was empty! I searched desperately for him. I spent half the day looking for him, and finally found him grazing next to a small Shetland pony about 5 miles down the road. He knew he had dome something wrong and wouldn't let me catch him. After a struggle, I finally got him home-- but not without being bitten twice.
Bo was a devil. I tried my hardest to be his friend-- but he always would charge at me, kick, bite me, and push me around. He had no interest in being friends at all. After five months, I gave up on him. He had turned into a fat, huge massive stallion that couldn't care less about me. He was dangerous, and I didn't know what to do with him, so I sold him.
Two years later, I still didn't have a proper horse. One morning while reading the paper, an ad caught my eye: "Very lovely correct stallion. Bay thoroughbred." It was Bo! I knew it was him-- when I went to see him, he was quiet, well-behaved, and listened! The owner, Mr. Trifton, was pleased to hear that I had owned him. Once again, I bought Bo.
I was a fool. He hadn't changed. He had the same bad habits! I hired a trainer, Mr. Edwards. He taught me what was going on in Bo's mind and after five months of steady work, Bo finally was behaving well. Bo had never really been taught to be ridden properly, but with the hellp of Mr. Edwards we b roke him in.
One sunny afternoon I went for a slow ride down the raod. I spotted a dead rabbit laying in the road. So did Bo. He freaked out and began to buck, and I fell off. I expected Bo to run off and leave me there in the road, and he did. But an amazing thing happend next. A cattle truck came flying down the road at me, and I was still laying there. Bo saw the truck and turned back toward me, and grabbed my clothes in his mouth, dragging me off the road. The cattle truck didn't have time to stop and as it went by, it clipped the back of Bo's leg. I was safe but I saw Bo fall from the injury.
The truck driver finally slowed and stopped, and I used his phone to call the vet. With a shattered leg, Bo had no chance of recovery and was put down that day. But he had saved my life.
When Bo's last owner, Mr. Trifton, heard about the incident he called me. He said he had a filly that looked exactly like Bo for sale. I told him I didn't need another horse. But then he told me the filly didn't just look like Bo-- she was Bo's daughter. I quickly jumped on the offer and bought the weanling. He was right; she was a young version of Bo. I named her Jesse, and when she was old enough began competing on her. To this day, she is a wonderful horse. But my heart still holds a special place for that crazy stallion that saved my life.
Jesse, Bo's daughter
