I fell of again 2day... lol it was funny. I felt like I was flying and then Kabamb!!! I would have laughed if I wasnt winded lol. The Bri came up and said really funny stuff so I was trying to breath and laugh at the same time lol. Im laughing right now. Its funny though that my instructer was saying that im like a monkey lol gripping onto the saddle. Haha well it was fun. We did some diagonal work and a bit of cantering, I rode Marble 4 a change :)

Before that Bri, Miya and Renee were putting Betty and little Top Deck in their paddock, Top Deck was sooo cute running around and playing. It was funny to watch.

Then after my sat lesson Samo was riding Jess's horse, while Sinead was braiding Becks hair. lol Today was awesome and soon is the RODEO!!!!!!!

Some Kool things to do with your horse!

Horses are a ton of fun! There are many things you can do!

First of course is ride them.

But you can:

-Take them over a few jumps.
-Try a new discipline! You can try the opposite riding style (E/W), and anything from barrel racing and pole bending, to polo cross and skiijoring!
-Trail ride alone or with friends!
-Ride bareback! This is a great way to get a feel for your horse, without a saddle in between you! Plus it's very fun!
-If your horse is a draft or a big horse, try riding double bareback with a friend (both of you on the same horse)! Of course, check with your vet to see how much weight your horse can carry first.
-Teach them a trick. There are many tricks you can teach, from bowing, to a little smile.
-Teach them a few dressage moves. You can do turn on the forehand/haunches, sidepass, leg yield, etc.
-Play with them in their pasture, or the riding ring!
-Get out a big aerobic ball in the riding ring and play with it with your horse.
-Lunge/Longline your horse! If you use voice commands consistantly, your horse will soon learn how to respond to them, and you can do it with only an "invisible lungeline" (otherwise known as no lungline at all!).
-Free jump your horse! You can let your horse go around the rail with a few jumps in his way, and he should jump over them. It's really cool to watch, and it displays good listening skills.
-Take your horse for a ride/swim at the beach!
-Go to a Pony Camp with your horse!
-Take him to a show!
-Play games with friends, like relay races!
-Go for a nice gallop! It's a good way to get excess energy out, and you feel like you're flying!

There are a TON more things you can do with a horse! Try them all, pick your favorites, and have fun doing it!

Stallion Makes a Good Father

Stallion makes a good Father.

Donder, a black Shetland stallion, has a small herd of three mares. Donder is a good stallion, gentle with his ladies but protective of their welfare. Should a stray dog enter the field Donder would charge with ears flat back and teeth bared.

When foaling time was imminent I would remove the mare from the herd and keep her in the paddock with access to the barn. When the mare would be in labor Donder would pace the fence calling encouragement to his Lady. He wouldn’t leave to eat or drink until his foal was safely delivered.

After a week of separation I would return the mare with foal to the field.

Watching the three foals play together was always amusing. Donder basically ignored them until they were three months old and venturing further from their dams.

When the foals would run and chase he would join in. I was both surprised and delighted to see his interaction with his foals. With amusement I saw him slow his canter so a foal could catch him. The foal nipped Donder on the flank tagging him, then turn and ran, having become the leader of the game. Donder, with the other foals, chased after the new leader.

One day I stopped still in my tracks my, my heart in my throat. Donder and one of the colts were in battle! They rose in rears with Donder reaching for his son’s jugular vein. The colt jerked free and whirling kicked Donder soundly on his side. Donder returned his kick and squealing returned again for a frontal attack. The colt faced his sire and as Donder reared the colt came up under Donder and grabbed him by the throat shaking his head as he held on tight to Donder’s neck. Donder came down from his rear and then bowed down on a bended front leg. The colt let loose his grip and stood proudly, clearly sure he had won a terrible battle.

Donder rose and walked off leaving his three-month-old son to savor the victory.

After this first time I saw Donder win and lose in many mock battles with his colts. He had his own agenda as to what training they needed to become herd stallions.

With his filly he would play tag but would not engage in mock battles, as a mare would not need to know that.

Joshels stud and agistment

Is the best horse place to be, lessons are fun and the horses are great and fun to be around. Joshels is the place to be when you wanna be around a horse! in Darwin lol

Miya lol

Miyas lesson

After my lesson yesterday Miya had a lesson. It went well

While she was having a lesson, Me, Bri, Adele and some others were chilling and eating gum lol. We also tried to be quiet, that however was not highly successful lol. I also made a quick video of Miya b4 I had to leave. I will give it to Ely to tinker with lol maybe she can make it an okay video.

A Brave Shetland Mare

A Brave Shetland Mare.

Buttons a sorrel Shetland mare was a good Mother. She watched over her colt Laddie as he played and stood protectively over him as he sprawled on the grass in sleep.

Buttons showed the bravery of a Mother’s love one day. My daughter had been in the paddock with Buttons and Laddie and then went through an adjoining gate to check on Blue Moon a Welsh stallion. When she returned through the gate she latched it and left. She didn’t realize that she had left the chain loose enough a curious fifty-pound colt could slip through the gate into the pen with the stallion. Laddie did just that.

Fortunately my husband Don heard Button’s shrill neighs and went to check. He saw Blue Moon ears flat back chasing little Laddie around his pen, trying to bit him. Laddie was desperately running for his life while Buttons, in her pen neighed and charged the gate that separated them.

Don jumped the fence and tried to catch the terrified colt that dodged him, afraid of another attacker. Don next tried to slow Blue down, but the stallion would have none of it, he was determined to get the offspring of another stallion.

Don then ran to the gate and unlatched it. Buttons galloped through headed straight towards Blue Moon. She attacked with flaying front hooves and teeth.

Don took that opportunity to herd little Laddie back to his paddock and then shut the gate. Buttons seeing her colt safe stopped her attack and trotted to the gate clearly asking Don to reopen it so she could be with her colt.

Don allowed her through and then securely latched the gate. A trembling Laddie raced to his Mother’s side. She nuzzled and licked him, once again the quiet, gentle Shetland mare we all knew.

lesson and cantering

yesterday was really cool. I rode Co-coa, we did diagonals and some cantering. Then Bri and Miya and all that came which was awesome we watched Miya have a lesson on co-coa. I took a video, which I will give to Ely to tinker with lol :) It was fun. I rode with a girl called Maddison, she rode Marble. Soz I can't upload photos on my iPad so We will have to wait until I get on a computer lol. It's funny, cantering seems kinda slow when you watch people doing it but when You actually do it on the horse it seems really fast, haha maybe it's just me lol.

ME JUMPIN

I was riding in Adelaide. Its not really a jump but awww well.

YESTERDAY...

I rode Ice-cream again!! lol she needed the whip sometimes. We did diagonals, very confusing! Her trot is so smooth!! that it was quite easy to go for a long time. At the end we did a small canter and I nearly fell off! like the time with Jesse if you were there. Haha it was funny I thought I was gonna fall of but I didn't!!

LA DI DA

I went to Sat club today, I was given Ice-cream, I seriously thought i would die or something lol, she was actually really good and most of the time did what I asked her to do. when I got her though she was cover in a centimetre of dirt/mud (Im exagerating), it took me ages to clean her up but when I did she was still slightly dirty lol. I learnt a lot. Ely was our insturucter 2day and she was awesome, her and rachel helped me to improve my aids so that ice-cream would listen to me better and understand clearly what i wanted her to do. I had fun lol but after I had 2 birthday parties to go to both at the wavepool and at the same time lol, I am puffed!! then I went to the Quarter horse show which was fun!

Jesses Show!!

Jesse cam first second and third today at the quarter horse show. Me and my friend went and watched for a little while, Jesse did really good but was hot and tired at the end.

Today was AWESOME at sat club, I saw Beck and Bri and tonnes of other horselovers!!!
I rode co coa today and he was pretty good (naughty every now and then) I luv everyone at Joshels sosososososo much! I was actually really nervous when I first turned up lol. In these photos are Bri hiding behind the grey horse (Toffe) I nearly got her face in the photo though Lol. The other photo is Elana (the other newbie at sat club) Then there is Marble in the middle and of course the amazing fantastic................

....... BECK

New Zealand

The first pic is Duchesses(see below) daughter Dragonfly, she is so fat that she has to be stabled over night so she wont eat!!! But she is one of the cutest horses I know! She will ignore you, but as soon as you have a carrot or an apple shes all over you :)

The next pic is me on a horse called Duchess. She is a minature horse just smaller than cocoa if you know him. Before she came to the fun farm stay (where we stayed) she had been abused and hit. So she would kick any human who came near her or try to bite them. If someone was riding her she would buck them off. However Ross (the guy who runs the farm stay) taught her to trust humans and that not all are mean abusive. When I rode her, she was pretty much perfect! We mainly walked around the paddock but on my last day we did a bit of troting. She is a smart horse and a very very dirty horse. When I had finished brushing her after a ride (to cold to hose down) she would find the muddiest place and roll, All that hard work for nothing!!
Thanx for reading :]
